Petrol rates in the country are static now for over a month while diesel rates have been slashed for the second day in a row on August 19, 2021 (Thursday). Since June 2017, petrol and diesel rates are revised by state-run oil retailers on a everyday basis and if there are any changes the same are implemented at 6 am in the morning.
The rates are decided based on the international crude rates in the previous fortnight as well as considering the rupee dollar movement.
In the international markets, Crude Oil WTI futures traded lower by over 1.5% to $64.19. In the previous session, oil prices recorded a fall by a minor quantum, continuing their losing streak for the fifth-straight session. This is as there remain worries on the demand recovery for the commodity amid surge in delta variant Covid cases across the world. Also, on the sidelines there were seen gains in the greenback.
So, after the latest cut in diesel rates for 2 days now, here are the fuel rates across metro cities on August 19, 2021:
|Metro city||Petrol rate in Rs/litre||Diesel rate in Rs./litre|
