- Prohibition on Gifts and Travel Facilities: Pharmaceutical companies and their agents are prohibited from offering gifts, travel facilities, or any other pecuniary advantage to healthcare professionals or their family members.
- Restrictions on Free Samples: The supply of free samples of drugs is prohibited to individuals who are not qualified to prescribe such products.
- Ethical Committees and UCPMP Portals: Pharmaceutical associations are required to establish Ethics Committees for Pharmaceutical Marketing Practices (ECPMP) and set up dedicated UCPMP portals on their websites to facilitate the implementation of the code.
- Accurate and Verifiable Drug Information: The promotion of drugs must be consistent with the terms of their marketing approval, and information about drugs must be balanced, up-to-date, verifiable, and capable of substantiation.
- Ethical Conduct of Medical Representatives: Medical representatives must maintain a high standard of ethical conduct, comply with the code's requirements, and refrain from using inducements or subterfuge to gain access to healthcare professionals.
