PhonePe Launches PulsePro: AI-Powered Hyperlocal Insights for Smarter Business Decisions

Where should a retailer open its next outlet, or which neighbourhood is showing stronger demand before the competition arrives? PhonePe is trying to answer such questions with PhonePe PulsePro, a new enterprise intelligence platform that turns aggregated digital payment trends into local market insights for businesses.

The platform is designed for companies that need faster, data-led decisions on expansion, distribution, site selection and category growth. PulsePro uses aggregated and anonymised transaction patterns from its payments ecosystem.

Cracking the Enterprise Intelligence Market

PhonePe PulsePro has been built on the company's payments network, which includes more than 700 million registered users and over 50 million registered merchants. PhonePe said its network covers 99% of India's postal codes, allowing the platform to generate insights across urban, semi-urban and rural markets.

For businesses, the value lies in small-area intelligence. Broad state or city-level data may not be enough for a consumer brand, quick commerce player, lender or retailer. A company may need to know which postal codes are seeing stronger digital adoption, where merchant density is rising, or which categories are gaining traction.

Plan Retail Network, Identify Expansion Market

The company said PulsePro can help organisations plan retail networks, identify expansion markets, assess site locations and study category growth. These decisions are becoming more important as consumption patterns vary sharply between neighbourhoods, even within the same city.

Smarter Retail Expansion Starts Here

PulsePro builds on PhonePe Pulse, the open data platform launched in 2021. PhonePe Pulse provides public access to digital payments trends and has been used by entrepreneurs, researchers, policymakers, developers and students. The company said the open platform will continue to remain free.

PhonePe PulsePro, however, is meant for enterprise users who need deeper and more customised intelligence. While PhonePe Pulse gives broader visibility into digital payment trends, PulsePro adds a business-focused layer that can be linked to operational planning and market prioritisation.

Karthik Raghupathy, Head of Strategy at PhonePe, said businesses need better intelligence, not just more data. "Since launching PhonePe Pulse in 2021, we have seen a growing demand from organizations looking for deeper market insights to guide expansion and strategic decision-making. PhonePe PulsePro is our response to that need," he said.

Who Can Use PhonePe PulsePro? Businesses That Benefit Most

PulsePro offers three broad solutions. Category and Growth Intelligence helps companies study market trends, spending patterns, category performance and store-format changes. The company said this covers more than 200 store categories and over 100 market signals.

Retail Network Intelligence is aimed at companies planning distribution, store networks and rural or urban expansion. It can help identify high-potential markets, evaluate whitespace opportunities and decide where stores, agents, warehouses or partners may be placed more effectively.

The third solution, Hyperlocal Intelligence, focuses on district-level, postal code-level and more localised insights. PhonePe said it can also help track digital ecosystem indicators, including quick commerce penetration, at a hyperlocal level.

The launch reflects a wider shift in India's digital economy. Payments companies are no longer only processing transactions. Large fintech platforms are increasingly using anonymised behavioural signals to build products for businesses, institutions and merchants.

For companies, transaction-led intelligence can reduce the risk of entering weak markets and improve capital allocation. For PhonePe, the challenge will be to show that PulsePro's insights can support real business decisions while maintaining trust around privacy, anonymisation and responsible data use.
