PM Kisan Budget 2026: Centre Allocates Rs. 63,500 Crore for PM Kisan Samman Nidhi; Is a Hike Coming?

Crores of farmers across the country were waiting for any major announcement in the budget 2026 regarding its latest allocation for the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana this year. Since its launch in 2019, the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana has benefited over 11 crore farmers.

As per the Budget 2026 announcements, the government has pledged Rs. 63,500 crore for the PM Kisan scheme, unchanged from last year's allocation.

PM Kisan Budget 2026 Allocation: What Has Changed?

Despite expectations of an increase, the government has not announced any hike in financial assistance under the PM Kisan scheme. As of February 2026, eligible farmers will continue to receive Rs. 6,000 annually, disbursed in three equal installments of Rs. 2,000 each through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The Rs. 63,500 crore allocation for FY27 will support over 10 crore beneficiaries nationwide.

PM Kisan Amount Hike Speculation: What's the Status?

Over the past year, there has been speculation about raising PM Kisan assistance to Rs. 9,000 or even Rs. 12,000 per year, based on recommendations from parliamentary committees. However, no official government approval has been granted so far, and the existing structure remains unchanged.

PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana: Eligibility Rules

Under the scheme, small and marginal farmers owning cultivable land are eligible for benefits. However, certain categories are excluded, including Institutional landholders, Sitting or former MPs, MLAs. High-income professionals such as doctors, engineers, and lawyers earning over Rs. 5 lakh annually and Pensioners receiving more than Rs. 10,000 per month
To receive payments, farmers must ensure Aadhaar is linked with their bank account, and they have their updated land records. And most importantly the KYC is completed.

New PM Kisan Rule 2026: Farmer ID Mandatory

A key update in 2026 is the introduction of the Unique Farmer ID under AgriStack, which is now mandatory for upcoming installments, including the 22nd installment, expected soon.

Failure to complete Farmer ID registration or eKYC may lead to delays or rejection of payments. Most rejections occur due to mismatched Aadhaar details, bank errors, or outdated land records.The government plans to release three installments of PM Kisan during 2026.
