Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the first phase of the NLC India Talabira Thermal Power Project in Odisha on Saturday. The project, with an estimated investment of over Rs 27,000 crore, is a significant step towards ensuring energy security and driving the nation's growth trajectory.

A Step Towards Energy Security
The coal-based Ultra Super Critical Pit Head thermal power project will have a capacity of 2,400 MW in its initial phase and plans for an additional 800 MW in the second phase with an investment of over Rs 8,000 crore. The project will provide round-the-clock electricity supply to Odisha and create employment opportunities for the youth.
Inauguration and Foundation Stone Laying of Projects Worth Over Rs 68,000 Crore
During his visit to Odisha, Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several other projects worth over Rs 68,000 crore. These projects span various sectors, including power, roads, and railways, and will contribute to the state's infrastructure development.
