PM Modi Engages with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella on AI Initiatives and Investment Plans in India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his pleasure over Microsoft's plans for expansion and investment in India. This came after his meeting with the company's chairman and CEO, Satya Nadella. Modi shared on X, "It was indeed a delight to meet you, Satya Nadella! Glad to know about Microsoft's ambitious expansion and investment plans in India. It was also wonderful discussing various aspects of tech, innovation and AI in our meeting."

Modi Meets Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella

Nadella is currently on a three-day visit to India. During this trip, he will address Microsoft's clients and other stakeholders about artificial intelligence in Bangalore and Delhi. His previous visit to India was in February 2024. At that time, he emphasised the significant role of India's developer community in creating advanced products and solutions that address national challenges and have global applications.

Microsoft's AI Commitment

Following his meeting with Modi, Nadella expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister's leadership. He stated, "Excited to build on our commitment to making India AI-first and work together on our continued expansion in the country to ensure every Indian benefits from this AI platform shift." This highlights Microsoft's dedication to integrating AI into India's technological landscape.

In his previous visit, Nadella launched a new skilling investment aimed at empowering people and organisations in India during the AI era. Through this initiative, Microsoft plans to provide AI skilling opportunities to 2 million people in India by 2025 under its AdvantaIge India programme.

Empowering Women Developers

Nadella also announced the expansion of the Code; Without Barriers programme to India. This initiative aims to offer skilling and certification opportunities to 75,000 women developers by 2024. This move underscores Microsoft's commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion within the tech industry.

As Microsoft continues its expansion in India, these initiatives reflect its focus on leveraging AI for societal benefit. The company's efforts aim to equip individuals with the necessary skills to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
