Jammu and Kashmir administration promotes PM Vishwakarma Scheme

Srinagar, Dec 4: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Monday urged the bankers committee to implement and promote the PM Vishwakarma Scheme. The scheme aims to provide end-to-end solutions to artisans and craftspeople in the Union Territory.

Promoting the Scheme

Vivek Joshi, Secretary of the Department of Financial Services, emphasized the significance of the Vishwakarma Scheme in achieving the Prime Minister's vision of a developed India by 2047. He stated that the scheme serves as a crucial milestone in realizing this goal.

Reviewing Performance

The meeting reviewed the performance of banks in delivering credit under various schemes during the half year ended September 2023. Special focus was given to the implementation of the PM Vishwakarma scheme in Jammu and Kashmir.

Scheme's Potential

Joshi highlighted the ambitious nature of the PM Vishwakarma program and its emphasis on quality. He expressed confidence in Jammu and Kashmir's potential to lead the scheme's implementation. He urged bankers and line departments to ensure that all eligible Vishwakarmas benefit from the scheme, contributing to their self-sufficiency, improved productivity, and the nation's self-reliance.

Addressing Storage and Production

Recognizing the gaps in storage capacity and apple production in Jammu and Kashmir, Joshi directed the banks to extend credit linkage to all controlled atmosphere stores through pledge financing against Electronically Negotiable Warehouse Receipt (ENWR).

The Jammu and Kashmir administration's push for the PM Vishwakarma Scheme reflects its commitment to supporting artisans and craftspeople in the region.
