PM Vishwakarma Scheme AI training helps 2,500 artisans strengthen livelihoods and business potential
Indias Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises says more than 2,500 PM Vishwakarma Scheme beneficiaries, including artisans and craftspeople, have been trained to use Artificial Intelligence tools. The programme introduces platforms such as ChatGPT, Indus, and Google Gemini to support product value, market access, and inclusive growth aligned with AI for Social Good.
The Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises said more than 2,500 beneficiaries trained in Artificial Intelligence tools. The group included artisans and craftspeople under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme. The ministry said the aim was to improve livelihoods and business prospects. Training introduced practical uses of AI for daily work and small enterprises.

The ministry said the programme supported "AI for Social Good\". The statement linked this to the Prime Minister’s remarks at the IndiaAI Impact Summit. It also cited the Delhi Declaration as a reference point. The ministry described the training as part of a wider national approach to make AI useful for citizens.

Participants learnt to use platforms such as ChatGPT, Indus, and Google Gemini. The ministry said these tools helped translate ideas into real tasks. Sessions covered how AI can support craft-based work and small businesses. The goal was to help artisans use digital tools without changing the core of traditional skills.
The programme taught AI-linked skills for branding and product presentation. It included product design, packaging, and marketing methods. The ministry said the course also explained how to improve customer engagement. It added that AI could help expand market reach and connect with new customer groups.

The ministry said AI use could reduce the digital gap for grassroots entrepreneurs. It said better use of technology may increase product value. The statement called it a first-of-its-kind effort across Government of India ministries. It said the plan focused on bringing grassroots artisans into the growing AI ecosystem. The ministry said the initiative was a step towards a digitally supported artisan sector. It said the wider aim was to keep India’s artisanal heritage relevant in global markets. The statement added that AI training under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme would help artisans apply technology in business decisions. The ministry said it would support stronger livelihoods over time.
