Punjab National Bank will revise its service charges beginning 1st October 2025, affecting locker fees, stop payment instructions, and standing instruction failure charges. The adjustments aim to align costs with operational expenses while maintaining competitive pricing.
Punjab National Bank (PNB) is set to revise several service charges starting 1st October 2025. These changes will affect locker fees, stop payment instructions, standing instruction (SI) failure charges, and nomination fees. While the cost for stop payments per instrument remains unchanged, locker fees have seen a notable increase across various categories depending on size and branch location.

For locker rentals, PNB has adjusted rates based on locker size and branch location. Small lockers will cost Rs 1,000 in rural areas (unchanged), Rs 1,500 in semi-urban areas (up from Rs 1,250), and Rs 2,000 in urban and metro areas (unchanged). Medium lockers will now be Rs 2,500 in rural areas (up from Rs 2,200), Rs 3,000 in semi-urban areas (up from Rs 2,500), and Rs 4,000 in urban and metro areas (up from Rs 3,500).
Locker Charges
Large lockers will cost Rs 4,000 in rural locations (up from Rs 2,500), Rs 5,000 in semi-urban areas (up from Rs 3,000), Rs 6,500 in urban areas and Rs 7,000 in metro areas (both up from Rs 5,500). Very large lockers are priced at Rs 6,000 for rural branches (unchanged), Rs 7,000 for semi-urban branches (up from Rs 6,000), and both urban and metro branches will charge Rs 8,500 and Rs 9,000 respectively (both up from Rs 8,000).
Extra-large lockers are priced at Rs 10,000 for rural branches (unchanged), while semi-urban branches will charge Rs 10,500. Urban branches will charge Rs 11,000 and metro branches will charge Rs 12,000; all three have increased from the previous rate of Rs 10,000.
Stop Payment Instructions
The current fee for issuing a stop payment instruction on a single cheque remains at Rs 100 per instrument. However, if the request covers a series of cheques—five or more—the fee increases to Rs 500. This is an adjustment from the earlier charge of Rs 300 for three or more cheques.
Standing Instruction Failure Charges
For standing instruction failures due to insufficient funds across any transaction type, PNB previously charged per transaction. The new policy introduces a flat monthly fee of Rs 100 plus GST. This applies regardless of whether one or multiple SI transactions fail within that month. A maximum of three SI transactions is allowed for term loans or recurring deposits.
Nomination Charges
The first-time nomination request remains free under the new guidelines. Subsequent requests incur a fee of Rs 100 per occasion unless it involves the nominee's death. In such cases where the nominee has passed away, the request is processed at the branch upon submission of a death certificate.
The one-time registration fee when leasing lockers is currently set at different rates: rural and semi-urban branches charge Rs 200 while urban and metro branches charge Rs 500. Under the revised structure effective October next year: all sizes of lockers in rural and semi-urban areas remain at this rate; however small to medium-sized lockers in urban/metro locations are charged at this rate too but larger ones incur higher costs reaching up to ₹1k.
These adjustments reflect PNB's strategy to align its service charges with operational costs while maintaining customer satisfaction through transparent pricing structures.
