Pravaig Dynamics, the electric vehicle startup involved in the Rajaji Tiger Reserve accident, is aiding the investigation. The company expresses grief over the incident, which occurred during a vehicle demonstration. The driver alleges being pressured by forest officials to overload and speed up, leading to the tragic event.
On January 9, a tragic accident occurred in Uttarakhand's Rajaji Tiger Reserve, resulting in the death of four individuals, including two forest rangers, and the disappearance of a woman warden. The incident involved an electric vehicle (EV) manufactured by Pravaig Dynamics, an EV startup based in Bengaluru.

Pravaig Dynamics' Statement
In response to the accident, Pravaig Dynamics issued a press statement expressing deep sadness and regret over the incident. The company clarified that the accident took place during a demonstration of the vehicle and is cooperating with the investigating agencies to provide more details.
Driver's Account
Ashbin Biju, the driver of the vehicle, provided a statement detailing the events leading up to the accident. He asserted that he was neither intoxicated nor fatigued at the time of the incident. Biju stated that the first test drive, approved by the Uttarakhand Forest Department, occurred without any issues on Monday morning. However, during the second demonstration in the afternoon, forest officials allegedly forced him to overload the vehicle and exceed the speed limit.
Overloading and Speeding Allegations
According to Biju's statement, forest officials insisted on accommodating nine personnel in the vehicle, exceeding the seating capacity of eight, including the driver. Despite his repeated objections, he was pressured to accelerate the vehicle beyond the planned range. Biju claims that he initially resisted but eventually gave in to the demands of the forest officer, resulting in a sudden acceleration.
Accident Details
Biju described the accident, stating that due to loose and unstable road conditions, a tire burst occurred, causing the vehicle to lose control from the rear. The vehicle hit a tree sideways before colliding with an embankment wall between the road and the river. He recalled that he lost consciousness after the impact.
Casualties and Survivors
The driver and the co-passenger in the front, who were wearing seat belts, managed to survive the accident. Tragically, the rangers and others standing in the rear of the vehicle were thrown off, resulting in fatalities and serious injuries.
Ongoing Investigation
Pravaig Dynamics emphasized its commitment to working closely with the investigating agencies and distributors to gather more information and assist in the ongoing investigation. The company expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
The accident in Rajaji Tiger Reserve has raised concerns about safety protocols and adherence to guidelines during vehicle demonstrations. Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the exact circumstances and responsibilities involved. Pravaig Dynamics' cooperation in the investigation is crucial to shedding light on the events that led to this tragic incident.
