PSU Dividend Dhamaka: National Thermal Power Corporation on Saturday announced a 35% final dividend for the financial year 2024-25. The power utility company had registered a 22% sequential rise in its net profit in the March quarter. Its net consolidated profit (attributable to owners of the parent company) surged by 50% to Rs 7611.22 crore during Q4FY25.

NTPC shares ended marginally higher at Rs 344.5 per share on BSE on Friday with a market capitalisation of Rs 3,34,050.15 crore. The company eyes in nuclear power plant expansion in the financial year 2025-26 as a part of its wider goal to reduce carbon emissions. Here are the top five highlights from the NTPC Q4 Result.

The Maharatna PSU gave an update on its dividend, net profit, and expansion plans for the upcoming quarters after its board of directors meeting on Saturday. Here are the top five highlights from NTPC Q4 result.

NTPC Q4 Result: Net Profit

NTPC's net consolidated profit (attributable to owners of the parent company), stood at Rs 7611.22 crore, which was 50% higher than Rs 5062.51 crore reported in the December quarter. The company's net profit jumped 23% year-on-year (YoY) from Rs 6168.73 crore reported in the year-ago period. NTPC's earnings per equity share stood at Rs 7.85 during the quarter under review.

NTPC Q4 Result: Update On Revenue, EBITDA

The power generation company's consolidated revenue from operations stood at Rs 49833.70 crore during Q4FY25, against Rs 47628.19 crore reported in Q4FY23. The company's total income stood at Rs 51085 crore against Rs 48816.55 crore reported in the corresponding quarter. NTPC's EBIDA fell by 6% sequentially to Rs 11255 crore, whereas its operating margin declined to 25.65 from 28.9% in the previous quarter.

NTPC Q4 Result: Dividend

The power sector PSU had announced a 35% dividend for its eligible shareholders on Saturday. The company is yet to decide the record date to determine the eligibility of its shareholders for dividend payout.

"The Board of Directors have recommended the final dividend at the rate of 3.35% (Rs. 3 , 3~ per share) for the financial year 2024-25, subject to the approval of the Shareholders in the ensuing Annual General Meeting. The aforesaid final dividend is in addition to the first interim dividend at the rate of Rs. 2.50 per share & second interim dividend at the rate of Rs. 2.50 per share of face value of Rs. l 0/- each for the financial year 2024-25 paid in November'24 & February'25, respectively," noted company in its BSE filing.

NTPC Nuclear Power Projects in Pipeline

NTPC is working on a numberof nuclear power projects and aims to develop
30GW of nuclear power by 2047. In FY25, NTPC's joint venture with NTPCI approved Ashwini to build, own and operate nuclear power plants.
"We are in the process of executing Mahi-Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Plant. This project comprises of units of 700MW reactors," said Jay Kumar Srinivasan, Director during NTPC's earnings call on Saturday. "We have incorporated NTPC Parmanu Urja Nigam Limited in January 2025 as a wholly-owned subsidiary to explore advanced nuclear technologies, including pressurised water reactors, small modular reactors and fast-breeding reactors," he added.

NTPC Q4 Result: Joint Venture Profit

NTPC has multiple joint ventures, especially with its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy. NTPC profit from joint ventures increased significantly to Rs 632.51 crore during the quarter under review against Rs 457.49 crore reported during the December quarter. The company had delivered a profit of Rs 211.40 from its joint venture in March quarter of FY24.

NTPC JV profit of Rs 633 crore consists of NTCL profit of Rs 106 crore, BIFPCL profit of Rs 155 crore, HURL profit of Rs 150 crore, APCPL profit of Rs 107 crore, NSPCL profit of Rs 58 crore, and Rs 140 crore profit of Mega Urja.
