Raksha Bandhan Boosts Quick Commerce Platforms to Record Sales

Quick commerce platforms experienced a surge in activity during Rakshabandhan, as many opted for swift deliveries over traditional shopping. Blinkit, which commands around 40% of the quick commerce market, sold approximately 700 rakhis per minute. "We also hit highest ever OPM orders per minute, GMV, chocolate sales and most other metrics today! And at its peak - we hit 693 RPM Rakhis per minute," Blinkit CEO and co-founder Albinder Dhindsa wrote on X.

Record Sales for Quick Commerce on Rakhi

Zomato-owned Blinkit announced on Saturday that it will accept international orders until August 19. "Folks living abroad can now place orders on Blinkit to send Rakhis and gifts to their siblings in India and we'll deliver in 10 minutes! Countries from where you can order -- USA, Canada, Netherlands, Germany, France and Japan," Dhindsa announced.

Zepto's Festive Success

Zepto, which secured USD 665 million (about Rs 5,560 crore) in its latest funding round in June, saw a rise in festive merchandise sales. The Mumbai-based company introduced Lifafas for the festival, a free add-on with Zepto orders, offering prizes worth Rs 5 crores. "We just crossed 1 Million Lifafas - what a crazy way to end a Sunday night! All-time high on orders, sales, and first-time buyers as well. The team and I couldn't be more grateful to our customers," Zepto CEO and Co-Founder Aadit Palicha wrote on LinkedIn.

Instamart's Record-Breaking Day

Swiggy's quick commerce arm Instamart also saw increased activity during Rakshabandhan. "Celebrations of Raksha Bandhan fully underway - clocking higher orders per minute OPM than our peak day, which was a historical high in itself Expecting to sell as many rakhis *today* as we did *till today* this year and that's already 5x of last year!" Instamart head Phani Kishangarh A shared on X.

The platform experienced a significant 646% increase in perfume orders on Rakshabandhan, making it the most popular gift after chocolates. Kishangarh added that the last few months had been hectic for SwiggyInstamart with business growing faster this year compared to last year at a much higher scale. "Every weekend has been a new historical high scaling highest orders, business and user acquisition," he noted.

Dhindsa highlighted that Blinkit achieved an all-time high in various metrics within minutes. He expressed gratitude towards customers for their support during the festive season. The platform's ability to handle such high volumes of orders showcases the efficiency of quick commerce services.

Palicha expressed his gratitude towards customers for their overwhelming response during the festival. The introduction of Lifafas added an element of excitement to Zepto's offerings, contributing to their record-breaking performance.

Kishangarh emphasised the joy of being part of millions of customers' lives during Raksha Bandhan. He noted that no number could surpass the satisfaction of contributing to such a unique Indian tradition that celebrates sibling bonds.

The success of these platforms during Rakshabandhan underscores the growing preference for quick commerce solutions among consumers. As more people turn to these services for their convenience and speed, companies like Blinkit, Zepto, and Instamart are likely to continue experiencing significant growth.
