Railways Integrates To A Single Helpline Number For Passengers

By Staff

Indian Railways has integrated all of its helplines, except '182' services, into a single helpline number '139' to make it easier for passengers to have their grievances heard. Railway passengers will now find it easier to get responses to their queries by simply calling up a single helpline number, that is, '139.'

Railways Integrates To A Single Helpline Number For Passengers

The existing '182' helpline, which is meant for assistance related to thefts and other criminal incidents, will continue to remain functional.

The following railway grievance helplines will be discontinued as they are integrated into "139":

  • 138 (for general complaints)
  • 1072 (for accidents and safety)
  • 9717630982 (for SMS complaints)
  • 58888 / 138 (for clean my coach)
  • 152210 (for vigilance)
  • 1800111321 (for catering services)

There is no need to own a smartphone to contact the 139 helpline. It will be available in 12 languages and will be based on the IVRS (Interactive Voice Response System).

Passengers can press "1" for security & medical assistance, which will be connected to a customer care executive.

Other options can be chosen for information regarding PNR Status, arrival/departure of the train, accommodation, fare enquiry, ticket booking, system ticket cancellation, wake up alarm facility/destination alert, wheelchair booking, meal booking, catering complaints, and other travel-related grievances or queries.
