As per the Economic Times report, the national carrier Indian Railways has resumed bookings for train travel from April 15 for passenger trains as the ongoing lockdown announced to arrest the spread of Covid 19 will end on April 14.

In accordance with the report, a senior government official said that IRCTC would take up the bookings from April 15, "naturally when the lockdown is till April 14". At the same time he said operations of passenger trains may not resume in full.
It is to be noted that even before the lockdown was announced services of passenger trains were stopped from March 22 till March 31. The railways will now 'gradually' start passenger services from April 15, added the official.
On April 1, Piyush Goyal, Railways minister ordered supply services to be made available on more routes facilitating faster transportation of essential equipment, foodstuff and medicines. Regardless of the imposed lockdown, as many as 9000 goods trains are currently running.
