Railways To Not Stop Or Curtail Train Services

Amid surge in coronavirus case with reporting of over 1.2 lakh cases and over 700 death in a single day spike, Indian Railways clarified that train services shall not be curtailed or stopped. At the same time, it said that as migrant workers are rushing to their hometowns they will be provided with train services.

Suneet Sharma Railway board chairman said there is no shortfall of trains and the railway can put them into service on a short notice."There is no plan to curtail or stop train services. We will run as many services as required. There is no cause for alarm. We can run trains immediately on demand if there is any rush. This rush is normal during the summer season and we have already announced trains to clear the rush," he said at a press briefing.

Infact more trains are being run for clearing the rush. For place where there is high demand such as Gorakhpur, Patna, Darbhanga, Guwahati, Prayagraj, Lucknow etc. there are being run more trains 58 as part of the Central Railways and 60 trains (Western Railways).

"There is no shortage of trains for those who want to travel. I assure everyone that trains will be provided on demand," Sharma said. Also there is no need to carry a Covid negative while travelling in trains.
