Raja Shivaji Box Office: Riteish Deshmukh's Film Above Rs 26 Crore; Will It Beat Sairat In Marathi Cinema?

Riteish Deshmukh's epic film Raja Shivaji, which portrays the life of young Shivaji becoming Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, has already become a hit in Marathi cinema by crossing Rs 13 crore in collection on the opening day, making it the best opener in the Marathi industry's history. Raja Shivaji outperformed Sairat's opening day collection. Sairat is a romantic tragic movie, currently holding the title of all-time grosser in Marathi cinema.

By the start of Day 3, May 3, Raja Shivaji had already crossed the threshold of Rs 25 crore and the numbers are still counting as full-day collection data is yet to be calculated. The movie has the potential to hit Rs 50 crore. It will be keenly watched if Raja Shivaji dethrones Sairat to become the all-time grosser.

Raja Shivaji Day 3 Box Office Collection:

As of Day 3, Raja Shivaji is currently running across 232 shows and has collected a net of Rs 0.18 Crore. This brings total India gross collections to Rs 26.27 Cr and total India net to Rs 22.08 Cr so far, with India final collections yet to be reported, as per Sacnilk data.

On Day 1, Raja Shivaji has bagged Rs 11.35 crore net collection but it grossed above Rs 13 crore. On Day 2, the net collection stood at Rs 10.55 crore. The Day 3 full collection data will be out by end of the day. Even if the occupancy in Hindi language has slowed, in Marathi language, the movie is going strong.

Raja Shivaji vs Sairat Box Office Collection:

Among the highest grossing films in Marathi cinema on opening day, Raja Shivaji rules the chart. Its gross collection stood at Rs 13.51 crore, outperforming gross collection of Rs 4.23 crore by Sairat on Day 1.

Even when the weekend is not over, Raja Shivaji is also the highest grossing film by opening weekend, with over Rs 26 crore. Sairat's worldwide grossing collection stood at Rs 12.20 crore in the opening weekend.

Raja Shivaji has already surpassed the all-time collection of popular Marathi films like Ventilator, Mauli, Dharmaveer, Me Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy, Aapla Manus, Navra Maza Navsacha 2, Naal, Chandramukhi, Classmates, and Double Seat.

The Riteish Deshmukh-directed film is already in the top 20 all-time grossing list in Marathi cinema and it has been only two days since its release. Currently, Sairat holds the title of all-time grossing film in Marathi industry, with a worldwide collection of Rs 110 crore. Sairat was released in 2016. Could Raja Shivaji break a new history in Marathi cinema after 10 years of Sairat?
