RBI Citizens Charter data show 99.7% of applications processed on time in April 2026

The Reserve Bank of India says it processed 18,677 of 21,150 Citizens Charter applications in April 2026, with 99.7% completed within the prescribed timeline. The month began with 3,452 pending cases and received 18,270 new applications; 2,473 remained pending at month-end. Delays were mainly linked to external inputs.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said it met its Citizens Charter timelines for most cases in April 2026. The RBI reported that 99.7 per cent of disposed applications were completed within the set time. The data covered both older pending matters and new applications received during the month.

RBI meets April 2026 timelines

According to the RBI, the total workload for April stood at 21,150 applications after adjustments. This figure included cases carried forward, new receipts, and files returned for missing details. The RBI said 18,622 applications were finished within the deadline. Only 55 cases were completed after the allowed time.

RBI Citizens Charter timeline performance in April 2026

The RBI said 3,452 applications were pending at the start of April. During the month, 18,270 fresh applications arrived. Another 572 cases were sent back to applicants for extra information. After this step, the RBI counted 21,150 applications for processing in April 2026.

The RBI data showed 18,677 applications were processed during April. Of these, 18,622 cases, or 99.7 per cent, were disposed of within the stipulated timeline. It added that 55 cases, or 0.3 per cent, were cleared beyond the deadline. The RBI presented this as its monthly Citizens Charter outcome.

RBI Citizens Charter pending applications at month-end

At the end of April, 2,473 applications were still pending, the RBI said. Of these, 2,458 cases, or 99.4 per cent, were within the prescribed timeline. Another 15 cases, or 0.6 per cent, were beyond it. The RBI said all delayed pending cases awaited inputs from external agencies.

RBI Citizens Charter function-wise application processing

Function-wise numbers showed higher volumes in Banker to Banks and Governments and Currency Management. Under Banker to Banks and Governments, 8,384 applications were processed. The RBI said all of them were completed within the timeline. This category accounted for a large share of the April workload.

In Currency Management, 7,542 applications were cleared on time, the RBI data showed. Another 25 were disposed beyond the timeline. The RBI also reported 676 applications pending within the timeline in this function. These figures placed Currency Management among the highest-volume areas for the month.

Foreign Exchange Management saw 1,310 applications processed within the timeline and 15 beyond it. The RBI said 961 cases were pending within the deadline, and 14 beyond it. Under Regulation and Supervision, 556 cases were processed within time and 11 beyond it. Another 677 remained pending within the timeline.

The RBI said April 2026 processing stayed largely within Citizens Charter timelines across functions. Most completed cases met the deadline, and only a small share crossed it. Pending cases at month-end were mainly within time limits. The RBI said the few overdue matters were waiting for information from external agencies.
