The Reserve Bank of India will soon roll out Rs 20 denomination banknotes under Mahatma Gandhi (new) series with signature of RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra.
The new notes will have similar designs in all respects to the previous Mahatma Gandhi Series.The only difference will be the signature of RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra.
"The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue ₹20 denomination Banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series bearing the signature of Shri Sanjay Malhotra, Governor. The design of these notes is similar in all respects to ₹20 banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series," read a notice released by the RBI on Saturday.

Will Your Old Rs 20 Notes Work?
Yes, all the previous Rs 20 notes under circulation with signature of previous RBI governors under Mahatma Gandhi Series (New) will be acceptable.
"All banknotes in the denomination of ₹20 issued by the Reserve Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender," stated RBI in the notice.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that it will soon issue new Rs 20 denomination banknotes under the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series. These notes will bear the signature of the current RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra.
Key Differences Between The New And Old Rs 20 Denomination Currency
The central bank in its notice has mentioned that the design and features of the upcoming Rs 20 notes will remain same to those currently in circulation under the Mahatma Gandhi (New Series). Which means that people will get same colour scheme, dimensions, security features, and motif of the Ellora Caves on the reverse side of the note.
About Rs 20 Denomination Note
The Rs 20 denomination banknotes are circulated under the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series. These notes bear the signature of the RBI Governor. These notes are issued with a base colour of greenish yellow. The designs, geometric patterns, aligning with the overall colour scheme are observed on both the sides. As per RBI's official website, the size of the new note is 63 mm x 129 mm.
Key Features of Rs 20 Denomination Banknotes
Key features of the mentioned denomination's banknotes are denominational numeral in Devnagri script, portrait of Mahatma Gandhi at the centre, 'INDIA' and 'भारत' printed in microletters on Mahatma Gandhi's portrait, windowed demetallised security thread with inscriptions, 'भारत' and RBI, guarantee clause, RBI Governor's sign with Promise Clause, and RBI Emblem, Mahatma Gandhi portrait and electrotype watermark, number panels with multiple zereos growing in a specific order, Ashoka Pillar Emblem on the right.
The Rs 20 banknotes with number panel with numerals in ascending font on the top left side and bottom right side.
On the reverse side, people can find the year of printing of the note, Swachh Bharat Logo, language panel towards centre, motif of Ellora caves, denominational numeral in Devnagri on the top right. The banknotes printed under Mahatma Gandhi (New) series are distinctly different from the old Mahatma Gandhi series. The new series has also different theme, which is India's heritage sites.
A few new other elements added in these notes are numerals in devnagari and the logo of Swachh Bharat. The new notes also have design elements in myriad and intricate forms and shapes.
