The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall across many parts of India between July 5 and July 10, with red and orange alerts as monsoon conditions remain favourable for India.
The heaviest rainfall is expected in northwest India on July 6 and 7, while east India is likely to receive significant rain until July 7. According to the IMD, extremely heavy rainfall (over 21 cm) is expected in East Madhya Pradesh on July 4 and in Himachal Pradesh on July 6.

Red And Orange Alerts
According to IMD's post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) below regions are expected to receive red and orange alert rains in the country.
A red alert has been issued for parts of Gujarat, including Kutch, Banaskantha, and Patan, where very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and winds up to 40 km/h are expected. While Himachal Pradesh and eastern Madhya Pradesh is also under red alert on July 6.
Orange alerts have been announced for parts of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh. These areas are likely to see heavy rainfall, cloud-to-ground lightning, thunderstorms, and gusty winds between 41-61 km/h on July 5. While Uttarakhand and Odisha are there for week in this zone.
Monsoon Havoc: 43 Dead in Himachal in 2 Weeks
As heavy rains continue to cause problems in many parts of the country, it has taken away many lives inclusing 43 in Himachal Pradesh. "Till now, approximately 69 (43 deaths due to rain fury and 26 due to road accident since June 20) people have lost their lives, 37 are missing, and 110 have been injured. The total damage has been estimated at around Rs 700 crore," said Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu to ANI.
Cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides have disrupted daily life in the state. With rivers flowing above the danger level, the IMD has warned of extremely heavy rainfall (21 cm or more) at some places in Himachal Pradesh on July 6.
Rainfall in Past 24 Hours
Thunderstorms with gusty winds between 40-60 km/h affected several parts of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Konkan, and Karnataka. Similar weather conditions, including strong winds and lightning, were also reported in Himachal Pradesh, Vidarbha, Kerala, and the Andaman Islands, disrupting normal life in many areas.

South India:
Isolated heavy rain is expected in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka from July 4 to 10. Very heavy rainfall is likely in Coastal Karnataka between July 4 and 6, and in South Interior Karnataka on July 4. Additionally, strong surface winds reaching speeds of 40-50 km/h are forecast across the region over the next five days.
East & Central India:
Heavy to very heavy rain expected in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, and Gangetic West Bengal through July 10. Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and winds (30-40 km/h) likely across the region all week.
Northwest India:
Extremely heavy rain likely in Himachal Pradesh (July 6). Frequent heavy rain in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and UP from July 4-10. Thunderstorms and moderate rain expected daily.
West India:
Very heavy rain is likely in the Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on July 6 and 7. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Konkan, Goa, Gujarat, and Saurashtra-Kutch regions through July 8. In addition, thunderstorms with gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 km/h are forecast in several of these areas.
Northeast India:
Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is expected throughout the week in the region. Very heavy rainfall is likely in Arunachal Pradesh on July 4 and in Meghalaya on July 4 and 6, which may lead to localized flooding and travel disruptions.
