Mukesh Ambani Encourages Students to Prioritise Critical Thinking Over Artificial Intelligence Tools

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani emphasised that tools like ChatGPT cannot replace critical thinking. He stated that India's progress relies on human intelligence, not artificial intelligence. Speaking at Pandit Deendayal Energy University's 12th convocation, Ambani predicted India would become the world's most prosperous nation by century's end. However, he stressed that growth should not harm the planet and urged for a faster shift from fossil fuels to clean energy.

Ambani Advocates for Critical Thinking Over AI

Ambani advised students to use AI as a learning tool but not to abandon their own critical thinking. "You should definitely use ChatGPT but always remember that we can progress only through our own intelligence, not through artificial intelligence," he told the graduating students. The RIL chairman also encouraged lifelong learning, stating that continuous learning is essential for success in today's rapidly advancing technological world.

India's Economic Growth and Environmental Responsibility

The PDEU president highlighted India's potential to become the third-largest economy globally, asserting that no force can hinder its growth trajectory. He also underscored the importance of environmental conservation alongside economic development. "We must not allow economic growth endangering planet Earth and further worsen the climate crisis," he said.

Ambani expressed confidence in green technologies and enterprises to reverse ecological damage and enhance the planet's livability for future generations. He noted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for India to become the greenest nation globally. This vision aligns with PDEU's future role and responsibility, focusing on quality research and application-driven studies.

The Role of Green Energy and AI

Ambani encouraged a focus on new areas like bio-energies, which could benefit farmers and create jobs. He believes the intersection of green energy, materials, and AI will shape humanity's future. Ambani wants PDEU to lead in this synergy, positioning itself at the forefront of these advancements.

Uday Kotak, founder of Kotak Mahindra Bank and chief guest at the ceremony, advised students to prioritise excellence over money. "Whatever you do in life, keep a focus on quality and excellence. Because if we achieve both, the outcome of everything, including financial outcome, will follow," Kotak said.

Integrating Finance into Education

Kotak urged PDEU to introduce finance courses, highlighting the growing integration of finance and technology. "Why is that my little area of finance is not finding any mention so far in the history of PDEU? You looked at law, you have looked at space, time has come for finance," he remarked.

Ambani concluded by reiterating his belief in India's potential for prosperity while maintaining environmental responsibility. He remains optimistic about green technologies' ability to improve ecological conditions for future generations.
