RoDTEP schedule update aligns customs tariff lines for smoother exporter compliance from May 1, 2026

The Commerce Ministry has issued revised RoDTEP schedules to align with the amended customs tariff structure. The update covers 194 tariff lines, adding 142 new 8-digit lines while deleting and modifying others. Effective May 1, 2026, it aims to reduce classification ambiguity and ensure continuity of eligible duty and tax remission for exporters.

The commerce ministry issued updated remission of duties and taxes on exported products (RoDTEP) schedules on Thursday. The change aligned RoDTEP entries with the amended customs tariff structure. Officials said the update should help exporters receive benefits smoothly. The ministry also linked the move to lower confusion in export product classification.

The revision covered 194 tariff lines or product categories. It included 142 new 8-digit tariff lines. The update also removed 50 lines and changed others. The ministry said the revised schedules would support seamless RoDTEP processing in the Customs Automated System from May 1, 2026.

The ministry described the action as RoDTEP-specific. It said the aim was to improve ease of doing business for exporters. The update was meant to ensure timely alignment of related compliance frameworks. It also sought to reduce system-level mismatches while keeping remission of eligible duties, taxes and levies continuous.

Officials said the tariff alignment should limit disputes linked to product codes. The ministry said the change was expected to reduce classification-related ambiguity. It added that the revised schedules should allow RoDTEP benefits to be applied without disruptions during customs processing after the new date.

RoDTEP update alongside APEDA Basmati and Organic Training Centre plans

In a separate statement, the ministry reported progress on a new Basmati and Organic Training Centre-cum-Demo Farm. The land transfer at Tanda Bijaisi, Pilibhit, was formalised. A 70-year lease agreement was signed by APEDA, the Department of Agriculture, and the Uttar Pradesh government.

The proposed farm will cover about seven acres. The ministry said the centre would include an auditorium and a museum and gallery on Basmati and organic farming. It will also have a conference room, laboratory, and storage space for organic farming inputs.

The ministry said the facility should help train Basmati and organic farmers. It is also expected to support capacity building. Officials added that the centre would serve as a resource base for agricultural experts and students. The location was expected to help farmers and stakeholders in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Once set up, the ministry said the site would be the country’s first Basmati organic training and demonstration farm. It will cover both conventional and organic Basmati cultivation. The commerce ministry’s updates, spanning RoDTEP schedules and the Pilibhit facility, were presented as steps to improve compliance clarity and farmer support.
