Rupee Opens Higher At 75.51 Per US Dollar
Rupee on Friday opened with gains at 75.51 versus its previous close of 75.76 per US dollar. Notably, dollar index against a basket of major currencies fell 0.3% from a two-week high on Thursday.The home currency was last quoting at 76.37.
In the bond market, the yield on 10-year government bond stood at 6.013% versus its previous closing of 6.074%. On Thursday (May 7, 2020), the money market was shut due to Buddha Purnima.
Oil prices gained on Friday as hopes of recovery in demand after many economies opened up surfaced. Brent crude was up 47 cents, or 1.5%, at $29.33 a barrel by 0121 GMT. In the earlier session it fell nearly 1%.
Meanwhile, tracking gains in the Asian equities and US stocks overnight, Indian indices are again trading with gains, with Nifty up above 9300 points.
