Rupee Opens Lower On Weak Equities
Rupee on Friday (May 22, 2020) opened lower at 75.72 versus its previous close of 75.61 per US dollar. he sentiment in the rupee has been hit owing to weakness in equities and highest one-day spike in coronavirus cases today at 6066.
In the bond market, the yield on 10-year government bond opened at 5.75% versus its previous closing of 5.777%.
Oil prices on Friday were up on indications of recovery in fuel demand as business and other social coronavirus-led restrictions are being eased across the world. Brent crude was up 14 cents, or 0.4%, at $36.20 per barrel by 0040 GMT. In the previous session, it gained nearly 1%.
