Rupee Opens Sharply Lower At 75.16 Per US Dollar

Rupee in Friday's trade (July 10, 2020) opens lower at 75.16 in comparison to previous close of 74.995 per levels. This is as dollar recovers from multi-week lows on rising coronavirus led uncertainty.

Oil in today's session slipped and is set for its weekly loss as rising corona cases cast a dent on the demand outlook for the commodity. Brent crude was down by 7 cents, or 0.2%, at $42.28 a barrel by 0114 GMT after falling more than 2% on Thursday. U.S. oil fell 13 cents, or 0.3%, at $39.49 a barrel after a drop of 3% in the previous session.

As iwe write India has reported a record 26500 cases, while globally the tally has hit 12 billion as per John Hopkins university.

The yield on 10-year government bond stood at 5.7730%.

Meanwhile in line with global markets, Indian indices started on a flat note with a negative bias with Nifty below 10800 points while Sensex is at 36679 points.
