Salesforce Layoffs 2026: Another Round of Tech Job Cuts; Agentforce, MuleSoft & Marketing Cloud Teams Impacted
Salesforce has reportedly initiated another round of layoffs as the US-based software giant sharpens its focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and automation-led products. The latest workforce reduction is said to affect employees across multiple departments, including teams associated with Agentforce, the company's flagship AI platform that has become central to its future growth strategy.
Tech Layoffs 2026: Salesforce Announces Another Round of Layoffs; Which Departments Hit Majorly
According to a report by Business Insider, a regulatory WARN filing submitted in California revealed that Salesforce is eliminating 86 positions across sales, technology, product development and general administration functions. The move comes only a few months after the company reportedly cut nearly 1,000 jobs earlier this year as part of its ongoing restructuring efforts aimed at prioritising AI-related investments.

Salesforce Layoffs: Agentforce, MuleSoft and Marketing Cloud Teams Impacted
The report stated that the latest job cuts have impacted employees working on Agentforce, along with teams linked to MuleSoft and Marketing Cloud products. While Salesforce has not officially commented on the reported layoffs, the development has drawn attention because Agentforce has been one of the company's most heavily promoted AI initiatives over the past year.
The company had more than 80,000 employees globally at the end of January, according to its filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
What Does It Mean for Salesforce Employees in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Gurugram and Jaipur
There is currently no indication that the latest reported layoffs are specifically targeted at Salesforce's India operations. However, the development is being closely tracked given the company's significant presence in the country.
India remains one of Salesforce's largest talent hubs outside the United States, with offices in major cities including Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Gurugram and Jaipur. The company employs thousands of professionals across engineering, product development, customer success, consulting and support functions in India.
As Salesforce continues to reshape its global workforce around AI-led priorities, industry observers believe Indian operations could play an increasingly important role in developing and scaling next-generation AI products due to the country's large technology talent pool.
What Is Agentforce?
Agentforce is Salesforce's AI-powered platform designed to help businesses deploy autonomous AI agents capable of handling customer service, sales, workflow automation and other enterprise tasks. The platform has become the centrepiece of Salesforce's strategy as demand for generative AI and intelligent automation tools continues to rise globally.
Over the past year, Salesforce has repositioned several of its core products under the Agentforce brand. Sales Cloud was renamed Agentforce Sales, Service Cloud became Agentforce Service, while Platform was reintroduced as Agentforce 365 Platform.
Marc Benioff Previously Hinted at a Possible Rebrand
The importance of Agentforce to Salesforce's future vision was highlighted by CEO Marc Benioff in an interview with Business Insider in December 2025. When asked whether Salesforce could eventually adopt the Agentforce name as its corporate identity, Benioff indicated that such a possibility could not be ruled out.
He explained that customer conversations have increasingly shifted away from cloud computing and towards AI-driven experiences and autonomous digital agents.
According to Benioff, enterprise customers are now more focused on agentic AI interfaces than traditional cloud infrastructure, reflecting a broader transformation underway across the technology industry.
AI Investments Continue Despite Workforce Reduction
The latest layoffs underscore the wider trend seen across global technology companies, many of which are reallocating resources towards AI development while streamlining operations in other business areas. Although workforce reductions have become common across the sector, companies continue to increase spending on artificial intelligence platforms viewed as critical to future growth.
For Salesforce, Agentforce remains at the heart of that strategy. The reported layoffs suggest the company is continuing to reshape its organisation even as it aggressively expands its AI ambitions.
Salesforce Severance Package Is Higher Than Oracle, Amazon & Others
As per Business Insider reports indicate that Salesforce's severance package for affected employees may be more generous than some recent offers seen elsewhere in the technology industry. For comparison, Oracle reportedly provided laid-off employees with four weeks of base salary along with an additional week of pay for every year of service, capped at 26 weeks.
Block offered 20 weeks of salary plus one extra week for each year of tenure, while Amazon's package earlier this year included 90 days of pay and benefits in addition to severance compensation.
