Samsung India Layoffs 2026: Company Cuts 80-100 Jobs in Consumer Electronics Business; Hits Upto 25% Workforce

Samsung India Electronics has started a phased workforce restructuring within parts of its consumer electronics business, as rising input costs, softer demand and repeated price increases weigh on sales operations. The initial round of job cuts is reportedly focused on the company's television and home appliance divisions, while its smartphone business has, so far, remained outside the immediate reduction exercise.

According to people cited in reports, around 80 to 100 executives have been asked to leave in the first phase of the restructuring. The affected workforce reportedly includes director-level employees, headquarters-based team leaders, as well as branch and area managers working across different locations.

The move comes despite Samsung India recording strong revenue and profit growth during FY25. However, pressure on margins and challenging market conditions have prompted the company to review its sales structure and operating costs.

Tech Layoffs 2026: Samsung India Restructures 550-600 Member Electronics Sales Division

The current restructuring is largely centred on Samsung India's domestic consumer electronics sales organisation, which oversees products including televisions and home appliances. The division is estimated to have around 550 to 600 executives, separate from the significantly larger sales workforce handling smartphones.

The restructuring could also extend to off-roll employees working through third-party manpower agencies. Industry sources cited in reports have indicated that the eventual impact could be considerably larger than the first round of exits.

One executive cited in reports estimated that as many as 25% of employees in the electronics business's sales and marketing workforce could eventually be affected. Termination letters are reportedly being issued in phases, with some employees being asked to exit without serving their notice period.

Samsung India Severance Package: What Employees Are Being Offered?

Employees affected by the restructuring are reportedly being offered compensation linked to their tenure with the company. The package includes three months' salary, along with an additional month's pay for every completed year of service.

The staggered approach to issuing termination letters suggests that Samsung is carrying out the restructuring in multiple stages rather than implementing a single, company-wide reduction.

Samsung India Branch Restructuring: Offices To Be Merged

Alongside workforce reductions, Samsung India is also reorganising its branch network to eliminate overlapping roles and lower operating expenses. Several locations are reportedly being brought together as part of the restructuring exercise.

Industry executives cited in reports said branches in Ranchi and Patna, Delhi and Gurgaon, and Punjab and Chandigarh are among the locations being consolidated. Combining offices can reduce the requirement for separate management, sales coordination and administrative teams in individual branches.
