Sanam Teri Kasam Re-Release Box Nears Rs 55 Cr; How Harshvardhan Rane's Film Ruled Over Loveyapa, Deva, Azaad

The Harshavardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane's film has become the highest grossing milestone re-release movie with box office collection worldwide of more than Rs 50 crore. It is the first re-release to hit Rs 50 crore mark, and also the highest re-release grosser in India, dethroning movies like Tumbbad, Sholay, Rockstar, Veer Zaara and Kal Ho Naa Ho.

Since its re-release on February 7th, Sanam Teri Kasam has touched some notable milestones. With worldwide gross collection of Rs 50 crore, the 2016 tragic love movie is the highest re-release grosser. The movie has outrun Tumbbad's box office collection of Rs 38 crore, pushing the folk-horror movie at the second rank. Ghilli is at third, Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani is at fourth rank and Sholay is the fifth highest-grosser.

Sanam Teri Kasam tells the story of a tough ex-convict Inder and a traditional librarian Saru. Inder and Saru fall in love and get married but a tragedy changes their lives forever. The cinematography was done by Chirantan Das, the music was given by Himesh Reshammiya, and the lyrics were written by Reshammiya, Sameer Anjaan, Shabbir Ahmed and Subrat Sinha. Sanam Teri Kasam was released worldwide on 5 February 2016 under Eros International. It received mixed reviews from critics and was a commercial failure in its first release. It was re-released on 7 February 2025, and emerged as a commercial success, as per Wikipedia.
