Authorities have also warned of strict penalties for non-compliance. Individuals who overstay their visas, use unauthorized transport, or violate pilgrimage rules may face fines of up to SAR 10,000. In serious cases, deportation or entry bans may also apply.

On the Hajj front, India's quota for 2026 is unchanged at 1,75,025 pilgrims. The agreement was finalised between Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Saudi Minister Tawfiq Al-Rabiah.

Indian pilgrims can apply through the Haj Committee of India or via authorised private tour operators, with the quota divided in a 70:30 ratio. Applicants must meet eligibility conditions, including physical and financial fitness, and must hold a valid passport. It is also necessary that applicants must not have performed Hajj recently.

It should also be noted that Hajj via HCoI is allowed only once-in-a-lifetime, and re-application is typically allowed after 5 years.

Special Rules for Senior Citizens

Pilgrims aged 65+ must travel with a companion, and the companion's age must be between 18 and 60 years.

For the first time, a short-duration Hajj package of 20 days has been introduced. It is Ideal for working professionals and has a limited quota of 10,000 pilgrims. The Selection is done via lottery if oversubscribed.
