SBI Chairman Decision To Be Taken On 28 Aug By Banks Board Bureau
On Friday, that is 28 August, the Banks Board Bureau is scheduled to meet to decide on the selection of the SBI Chairman as Rajnish Kumar's tenure is set to end on 7 October. Appointed for a period of 3 years in October 2017, it's widely expected the Kumar will be given an extension. Notably, there is no defined age bar for the post of Chairman in the SBI Act.
The meeting will be held through video conferencing and is scheduled at 10:30 am. Four MDs (managing directors) of SBI are expected to be interviewed for the positions, including recently appointed Ashwani Bhatia, who took charge as one of the MDs of SBI on Monday and three existing MDs - Dinesh Khara, Arijit Basu and CS Shetty.
At the same decisions will also be made on extension of the tenure of executive directors of other public sector banks. Applications for the post of MD & CEO of IFCI will also be taken up, according to a report by Mint.
