SBI Customers Pay Attention! Two-Day Nationwide SBI Strike May Impact Bank Services On THESE Dates

SBI Services Disruption Alert: The State Bank of India customers may face disruption in availing banking services as SBI employees are planning a two-day nationwide strike at the end of this month. The All India State Bank of India Staff Federation, AISBISF, called the bank strike to raise nearly 16 demands linked to service-related concerns.

As the SBI bank strike dates are falling after a long weekend, customers can face inconvenience while using bank services during these dates. Here are all the details about the SBI strike in May.

SBI Strike May 2026

The All India State Bank of India Staff Federation, or AISBISF, has called the strike to press several employment-related demands. SBI employees are planning a two-day nationwide strike on May 25 and May 26. The strike will fall after bank holidays on Saturday and Sunday, ie May 23 and May 24.

As per media reports, most of the SBI branches are likely to remain closed on Monday and Tuesday (May 25 and May 26) due to bank strike.

SBI Strike: How It Will Impact Customers?

Over the counter services like cash deposits, withdrawals, cheque clearing and account related requests may not be available on the bank strike days. However, SBI customers can avail online banking services like internet banking, mobile banking and ATM services are expected to function, though some processes could slow due to reduced staff handling backend work.

SBI Strike: What Are Employees Demanding?

The all India SBI strike is due to long-pending grievances of workmen-category staff. The federation has alleged that earlier demands of the bank employees and the management remain unfulfilled and that several issues related to staffing and service conditions remain unresolved.

On May 2, AISBISF served a formal strike notice to the SBI Chairman under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947. The federation also mentioned that the strike schedule might stretch to May 27 if any public holiday overlaps with the planned days, ensuring the protest still accounts for two active working days.

Before the SBI strike, the union has lined up multiple protest actions between May 5 and May 18, including demonstrations, sit-ins, social media outreach and a media briefing. AISBISF plans to submit a memorandum to the Finance Minister on May 19 and present a similar representation to the Prime Minister on May 21.

The union employees have scheduled demonstrations, sit-in programmes, social media campaigns and press interactions between May 5 and May 18. The union members will submit their representation to the Finance Minister on May 19 followed by submission to the Prime Minister on May 21. The staff has proposed all India SBI strike on May 25 and May 26.
