State Bank of India (SBI), the country's largest lender, has introduced a new toll-free number to provide a diverse array of phone banking services on the go for the convenience of customers, particularly older persons. SBI announced the launch of the new contact number that "Phone banking just got better! SBI contact centre gets a new easy to dial the number."

SBI has also claimed in a Tweet that "Call us toll-free on 1800 1234 and get a wide range of services on the go with SBI Contact Centre."
Through this new service, SBI customers can now conduct a range of banking services over their phone through the Contact Centre. For using the new phone banking service, customers must ensure that they have their registered mobile number linked with their savings account.

Before conducting phone banking services by calling the new toll-free number, customers should keep in their mind that their User ID and Password are required for the same. Here is the list of phone banking services of SBI according to its website, which customers can conduct by dialing 1800 1234.

- Balance and transaction related details.
- Issue of statement of account for maximum 6 months through post or e-mail.
Cheque Book issue request
Stop payment of Cheque
- Single Cheque
- Multi Cheques
Transfer of funds within SBI accounts between 8.00 AM to 8 PM
- Funds transfer to own accounts within certain limits.
- Funds transfer to third party accounts within certain limits

Note: Customers should also remember that SBI provides a contactless service across the country which they can avail using their registered mobile number only. - Balance check and last 5 transactions at IVR
- Balance check and last 5 transactions through SMS
- Request for blocking and reissuance of ATM Card.
- Generation of ATM/Green PIN
- Issuance of new ATM Card after blocking of old ATM Card.
