SBI Outage: Are You Facing Issues With Mobile Banking, Digital Transactions on SBI’s Yono App? Here’s Why

Several State Bank of India account holders witnessed issues related to digital transactions and mobile banking, mainly on SBI's Yono application on Tuesday, 1 April. There were nearly 886 complaints of issues related to digital banking by SBI customers at 1 pm, according to Downdetector.

The website also reported a sudden spike in issues related to UPI payment services on Google Pay. Nearly 65% of SBI users' complaints were related to mobile banking, whereas 31% of complaints were related to funds transfer, and a few more related to ATM transactions.

SBI issues statement ahead of outage

The SBI outage on Tuesday could have been the result of the closing of the financial year 2025-26. Earlier in the day, State Bank of India on its social media account shared an update related to its digital services. The public sector lender urged its customers to use UPI Lite and ATM channels to avoid uninterrupted services on April 1 between 1 pm and 4 pm.

"Due to annual closing activities, our digital services will remain unavailable to our esteemed customers between 1 pm to 4 pm (IST) on 1.04.2025. We request you to use UPI Lite and ATM Channels for uninterrupted services. We apologise for the inconvenience caused," SBI said in its statement today.

Few days ago, a several people faced massive disruptions in their online payments after UPI services were hit for a short durations. Several users complained that their Google Pay, Phone Pe and other UPI-centric mobile payments applications were not working properly in evening. After some time, NPCI released an official statement confirming about UPI outage.

Out of all the complaints flagged on Downdetector, Google Pay users accounted for 296 complaints. 119 complaints were reported from the Paytm application, and 376 users of the State Bank of India experienced an outage. There were also complaints of issues related to fund transfers and online banking services. Here are the key steps people must follow if their online payment is stuck in between.

"NPCI had faced intermittent technical issues, owing to which UPI had partial decline. The same has been addressed now, and the system has stabilised. Regret the inconvenience," the payment regulator said in a post on X.

The temporary outage in UPI payments in India led to huge chaos among people, who rely majorly on digital payments for small-ticket transactions. Many users vented out their anger on social media sparking a memefest on UPI outage.Later, NPCI updated that the issue had been resolved and people wouldn't face any problem while making payments online.
