SBI Q1 Result Highlights: PSU Lending Giant’s Net Profit Jumps 10%, NII Up 15%, Stock Up From Day’s Low

SBI Q1 Result Today: The State Bank of India, on Friday, reported stronger-than-expected first quarter earnings of the financial year 2026-27. The PSU lending giant reported a 10.2% year-on-year jump in its consolidated net profit to Rs 21,121 crore in Q1FY27.

SBI share price today recovered from day's low and surged close to 2.4% after the Q1 result announcement. The stock was trading 3% higher at Rs 1118 per share on BSE with a market capitalisation of Rs 10,29,583.09 crore at 2:20 pm on Friday.

SBI Q1 Result Highlights

The PSU lender's net profit jumped 10.23% to Rs 21,121 crore in the June quarter. Its net profit after tax stood at Rs 19160.44 crore in the June quarter of previous financial year. The PSU bank had reported a net profit of Rs 19683 crore in the March quarter.

SBI's operating profit for June quarter jumped by 9.77% on an annual basis to rs 33,529 crore, whereas its ROA and ROE stood at 1.11% and 17.87% for Q1FY27. Domestic Net Interest Margin (NIM) stood at 3% in Q1FY27 and whole bank NIM improved by 5 bps to 2.86%.

Its net interest income (NII) surged close to 15% on a YoY basis to Rs 46,992 crore in Q1FY27 against the same quarter in previous financial year.

SBI Asset Quality Improvement

SBI's gross non performing asset (NPA) improved around 36 basis points on an annual basis to 1.47%. Net NPA ratio improved by 9 bps to 0.38%. Provision coverage ratio (PCR) stands at 74.2%, whereas slippage ratio for the quarter under review stood at 0.57%. The company's credit cost for Q1FY27 stood at 0.27%.

SBI CASA Ratio, Gross Advances

The state-owned lender's gross advances for Q1FY27 increased by 18.6% from last year to Rs 50.47 lakh crore. The bank deposits increased by 9.7% from the year-ago period to Rs 60 lakh crore. Its CASA ratio for the quarter stood at Rs 39.24% from 39.36% last year. SBI's slippages for the quarter saw a marginal increase to Rs 7,359 crore, compared to Rs 5,548 crore in Q1FY26.
