Similar technical glitches were recently reported in internet-based transactions of HDFC Bank customers. The private lender informed the stock exchanges on Thursday that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) ordered it to temporarily stop all launches of the Digital Business and sourcing of new credit card customers until it fixes its IT systems.
HDFC Bank said that the order was in regard to "certain incidents of outages in the internet banking/ mobile banking/ payment utilities of the Bank over the past 2 years, including the recent outages in the Bank's internet banking and payment system on November 21, 2020 due to a power failure in the primary data centre."
