After HDFC Bank recent disruptions in online services, the State Bank of India's flagship YONO app faced a system outage this week. Many customers of the public sector bank took to social media to express their frustration on transaction failures for nearly two days as the digital services failed to connect to servers.
On Thursday, SBI tweeted that it is working towards fixing the issue and that the workings of the app were affected by a system outage.

"YONO SBI mobile application has been impacted due to a system outage. Steps are being taken for restoration of uninterrupted service," the tweet said. "We regret the inconvenience caused and request customers to use OnlineSBI and YONO Lite for their banking needs," it added.
Similar technical glitches were recently reported in internet-based transactions of HDFC Bank customers. The private lender informed the stock exchanges on Thursday that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) ordered it to temporarily stop all launches of the Digital Business and sourcing of new credit card customers until it fixes its IT systems.
HDFC Bank said that the order was in regard to "certain incidents of outages in the internet banking/ mobile banking/ payment utilities of the Bank over the past 2 years, including the recent outages in the Bank's internet banking and payment system on November 21, 2020 due to a power failure in the primary data centre."
