Postal Depts 100-Day Innovation Plan

Geo-Coded Addressing System

The Department of Posts is advancing a project to create a standardised, geo-coded addressing system in India. This system aims to simplify addressing solutions for public and private service delivery. According to an official release, this grid-based system will enhance public service delivery, speed up emergency responses, and significantly improve logistics efficiency.

As part of the 100-day action plan, Proof of Concept (PoC) trials have begun across India. These trials cover 10 villages and one city. An MoU was signed on July 5, 2024, with the National Institute of Urban Affairs to establish a knowledge support partnership.

Partnerships for Advanced Technologies

Another MoU is being finalised with the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) of ISRO. This partnership aims to leverage advanced technologies for precise mapping and addressing solutions. The goal is to revolutionise service delivery across the country.

The Department of Posts will also organise 5,000 Dak Chaupals nationwide within 100 days. Additionally, they aim to onboard 3,000 new exporters onto the Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra Portal.

Dak Chaupal Initiative

The Dak Chaupal initiative aims to bring essential government and citizen-centric services directly to rural areas. This will improve accessibility and convenience for rural residents. According to the release, Dak Chaupals will act as vital links between rural residents and government functions, reducing barriers such as distance and accessibility.

Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra Scheme

The Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra Scheme focuses on boosting rural exports by supporting small-scale exporters. This initiative offers services like documentation assistance, market information, bar-coded label printing, and paperless customs clearance. Aligned with the 'One District—One Product' initiative, this scheme promotes local products, contributing to economic growth and rural development.

In a review meeting held today, Minister Scindia discussed the 100-day action plan of the Department of Posts. The department aims to transform service delivery and enhance efficiency through these key initiatives.

The Department of Posts is committed to improving service delivery through these initiatives. The focus is on enhancing efficiency and accessibility for citizens across India.
