Messe Munchen India and SEMI have announced their collaboration to organize the next edition of Semicon India in 2024. The event will bring together industry leaders and experts to discuss the latest trends and technologies in the electronics and semiconductor industry.
Messe Munchen India, the Indian arm of global exhibitor Messe Munchens, has announced its collaboration with industry body SEMI to organize the next edition of Semicon India in 2024. The annual conference and exhibition of electronics and semiconductors will be held in September 2024. The collaboration comes in the wake of the earlier announcements by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) at the Semicon India 2023 in Gandhinagar.
Growing Demand for Semiconductors in India

India's demand for semiconductors is currently valued at USD 24 billion and is expected to grow to a USD 110 billion opportunity by 2030. This growth has attracted the attention of global semiconductor companies looking to enter the Indian market. Bhupinder Singh, CEO of Messe Muenchen India, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in light of India's increasing demand for semiconductors. He said, "As the organizers of South Asia's largest trade fair for electronics manufacturing – Electronica India and Productronica India, we are excited to work with SEMI to host SEMICON India."
India's Strengths in Semiconductor Design and Manufacturing
Ajit Manocha, President and CEO of SEMI, highlighted India's inherent strengths in the semiconductor industry. He said, "Considering the inherent strengths of the Indian economy, the government's India Semiconductor Mission is an open invitation to the world to make and source semiconductors in India. From policy support to talent availability and attractive demand, India has all the elements for success in semiconductor design and manufacturing."
Building a Resilient Supply Chain
Manocha emphasized the need for a mature and resilient supply chain to meet the exponential demand for semiconductors in India. He said, "What the country needs today is a mature and resilient supply chain that can respond to the exponential demand. Semicon India will be a place for all stakeholders to come together and build win-win partnerships to develop the ecosystem in India."
Messe Munchen's Global Presence
Messe Munchen GmbH has been organizing trade fairs since 1964 and is one of the leading exhibition organizers worldwide. The company hosts nearly 40 trade shows for capital goods, consumer goods, and new technologies. Messe Muenchen India Pvt Ltd, founded in 2007 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Messe Munchen GmbH, is one of the largest trade fair organizers in India.
The collaboration between Messe Munchen India and SEMI to organize Semicon India 2024 is a significant step in the development of India's semiconductor industry. With India's growing demand for semiconductors and the government's supportive policies, the country is poised to become a major player in the global semiconductor market. Semicon India 2024 will provide a platform for stakeholders to come together, build partnerships, and contribute to the growth of the Indian semiconductor ecosystem.
