Sensex Closes At a New All-Time High, Nifty Ends At 15,690 For First Time

On the strength of favourable global indications, domestic equities market benchmarks BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 were trading over half a percent higher on Thursday, a day of weekly expiry. The BSE Sensex was trading above 52,100 points, while the Nifty 50 reached a new high of 15,693, beating the previous high of 15,660 points.

On June 3, benchmark indices closed at all-time highs, with purchasing witnessed in infrastructure, oil & gas, metals, and real estate stocks.

Top Gainers and Losers

Top Sensex gainers included Titan Company, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), ONGC, Power Grid Corporation of India, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank, and Infosys. Top index laggards included Bajaj Auto, Tech Mahindra, Nestle Industries, SBI, Dr Reddy's Lab, and Sun Pharma.

Infra, metal, FMCG, energy, and banking equities all saw buying, while pharma stocks remained under pressure. With a percent gain, the BSE Midcap index also reached a new high, while the Samllcap index gained 1%.

Praj Industries and sugar firm stocks have had a lot of good news recently. India has pushed out the deadline for mixing 20% ethanol into gasoline from 2025 to 2023.

Oberoi Realty, Prestige, DLF, and IBrealestate were among the top outperformers, with new long positions being added to stocks like Oberoi Realty, Prestige, DLF, and IBrealestate.
