Sensex Ends At Above 41000 For First Time

Benchmark indices in Wednesday's session hit another milestone and closed above 41000 mark, while Nifty was up 63 points or 0.52% at 12100.70. Nifty Bank also made stellar gains 0.5% to close at 31876.

Strong buying in the metal, IT, pharma and auto stocks led the indices to higher levels in trade today.

Yes Bank gained up to 9% as the board considers plan to raise fund via equity or equity related instruments through permissible route. The board of Yes Bank is slated to meet on November 29.

Also, the gains were broadly led by heavyweights such as HDFC which gained 2% after Morgan Stanley raised its target price to Rs. 2900.

Other major gainers on the Nifty include stocks such as UltraTech Cement, SBI, Maruti Suzuki and Hindalco Industries while among the losers are stocks of Bharti Infratel, L&T, ICICI Bank.

Stocks in European market hit a 4-year high as a long-brusiing trade war between the US and China is set to be resolved with an initial deal.

Meanwhile, rupee was trending higher at 71.37. The gains in the home currency have come on the back of strong foreign fund flow due to the Arcelor Mittal and Essar Steel Deal.
