Sensex Ends At Fresh Record High; Nifty PSE Surges Most


After climbing fresh highs in early trades, indices pared gains and traded lower. But towards the noon, recouped most losses, Nifty ended at 13558, up 0.33 percent while Sensex closed higher by 154 points or 0.34 percent at 46253, which is a new closing high.Stocks from the public sector space, energy and metal pack gained in trade today while there was seen weakness in Auto pack towards the end.

Among top gainers in today's deal on the NSE have been ONGC, Larsen, Cipla, Coal India, while losers include Eicher Motors, HeroMotocorp, M&M, HDFC Life and Divis Labs.

Burger King India which made a stellar debut at Rs. 115.35 in comparison to its issue price of Rs. 60 got locked in 20 percent upper circuit.

Within the PSU pack, stocks like Hindustan Copper, MMTC gained up to 20% on the back of heavy volume. Also, oil stocks continued their upward run on continuing surge in crude oil prices. ONGC and Oil India settled higher by .

Meanwhile, European markets were trading with gains with French CAC and German DAX both up by over 0.8 percent at the time of writing this copy. The US stock futures also traded firm indicating a positive start for the week in the US markets.

Indian rupee was last seen trading at 73.57 per US dollar. The weakness in the dollar, foreign fund flow is likely to keep depreciation of rupee in check.
