Sensex Ends Higher By 584 Pts; Nifty Tops 15098 Levels

Indices in a highly volatile session ended the day on a positive note. At the closing, Sensex was up by 584 points, while Nifty settled with gains of close to 1% at 15098 levels.

BPCL stood as the top laggard in today's trade as BPCL Trust is reported to pare stake in the state-run energy firm. Other stocks that lost ground today were Tata Steel, GAIL, IOC and Power Grid.

Among the top gainers in today's deal were stocks like SBI Life Insurance, Kotak Mahindra, ICICI Bank and HDFC twins. So, the overall market mood was primarily lifted higher by financials and banking pack.

Metal index saw weakness over 2 percent, with worst performers being Hindustan Zinc, Tata Steel, NMDC, JSW Steel among others. And the only metal scrip up in trade was MOIL.

In a report by Crisil, growth for FY22 has been projected at 11%.
Meanwhile, European indices also traded firm on prospects of the US stimulus.
