Sensex Gains 700 Points, Nifty Tops 14700 Levels; Metals Outperform
In a holiday truncated week, benchmark indices traded with gains of close to 1.5% in Tuesday's session at around 10:04 am. Sensex traded with gains of 696 points, while Nifty gained 210 points to top levels of 14721. Broader markets however underperformed their peers with gains of 1.14 percent on the Nifty Midcap 100.
Among Nifty sectoral indices all of the indices except Realty were painted green, with maximum strength in the metal pack, followed by pharma.
Individually, top gainers in today's deal include stocks like JSW Steel, Titan Company, Tata Steel, ONGC and Shree Cements, with laggard being M&M on the Nifty index.
Ace investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala backed Nazara Technologies is set to debut today. The issue saw third largest bid for an issue of over Rs. 200 crore.
Meanwhile, Asian markets were also trading higher with gains of over 1 percent on the Hang Seng index.
