Sensex Hits Record 65,000 Points, Gains Over 400 Points In Trade

The Sensex hit a new record high of 65,131.55 and Nifty soared 112.95 points to 19,301 in early morning trade. The Sensex breached the 65,000 points mark in morning trade as Nifty Bank jumped 396.9 points to 45,144.25 and Nifty Midcap rallied 134.7 points to 35,889.05 in morning trade.

Shares of JSW Steel, HDFC, Eicher Motors, and Grasim emerged as the biggest gainers in the Sensex pack, soaring over 2%.

Maruti Suzuki-Share

Shares of Power Grid Corporation, Maruti Suzuki, and Tech Mahindra were among the laggards.

Rupee gained 19 paise to 81.91 against US dollar in early trade.

Meanwhile, Asia-Pacific markets jumped as investors digested a slew of manufacturing activity reports that showed slowing output in the region. China's Caixin manufacturing purchasing managers index for June came in at 50.5, slightly higher than expectations of 50.2 by a Reuters poll. China's official government PMI readings posted a third straight month of contraction, according to a CNBC report.

Mainland China markets were higher: The Shanghai Composite gained 0.72% and the Shenzhen Component rose 0.18%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose 1.29% and the Hang Seng Tech index rose over 2%.

Japan's Nikkei 225 led gains in the region and popped 1.46% higher, with the Topix also up by 1.11%. South Korea's Kospi climbed 1.39% and the Kosdaq rose 1.81%. Private surveys for South Korea and Japan also showed factory activity slowed for the month, added the CNBC report.
