Sensex Jumps 803 Points To Close At Record High Of 64,718

Benchmark equity indices hit their fresh all-time high levels on June 30 amid positive trends prevailing in global markets. Gaining for the third consecutive day, the 30-share BSE Sensex gained 803.14 points or 1.26% to surge its lifetime high of 64,718.56 on Friday. Meanwhile, NSE Nifty jumped 216.95 points or 1.14% to soar its all-time high of 19189.05.

From the Sensex pack, Power Grid, Infosys, Asian Paints, Mahindra & Mahindra, Infosys, IndusInd Bank, Hero Motocorp, HDFC Bank and Titan emerged as the major gainers.

Tata Steel and Adani Ports were the laggards. Meanwhile, US markets closed largely with gains on Thursday.

"This resilience of the US economy, which was not anticipated and discounted by the market, is the strongest pillar of support for the global markets now," said V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services.

Global oil benchmark Brent crude climbed 0.40 per cent to $74.64 a barrel, according to a PTI report.

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought equities worth Rs 12,350 crore on Wednesday, according to exchange data.

The BSE benchmark had surged 499.39 points or 0.79 per cent to settle at its lifetime closing high of 63,915.42 on Wednesday. The Nifty climbed 154.70 points or 0.82 per cent to end at a record high of 18,972.10, added the PTI report.
