Sensex, Nifty: 5 Key Highlights Of Diwali Muhurat Trading 2023

The auspicious hour of muhurat trading 2023 has concluded and Indian markets witnessed a huge rally across the board. After gaining by 1% during trading hours, Sensex and Nifty 50 ended on a positive note. Muhurat trading takes place irrespective of the day when the celebration of Laxmi Pujan occurs either at the weekend or weekdays. Notably, there were key highlights during the muhurat trading this year that one should not miss out on!

Sensex closed at 65,259.45, up by 354.77 points or 0.55%, while Nifty 50 jumped 100.20 points or 0.52% to settle at 19,525.55. Bank Nifty gained by 176.55 points or 0.40% to end at 43,996.65.

On market performance, Motilal Oswal, Group MD & CEO, Motilal Oswal Financial Services said, "'Hindu Samvat 2080 is likely to start on a positive note on the back of strong earnings and healthy economic outlook. Samvat 2079 ended with Nifty gaining around 10%, despite economic headwinds and global geopolitical concerns."

1. Smallcap Stocks At All-Time High

Smallcap index on BSE outperformed the broader market including benchmark Sensex. The BSE SmallCap index surged by 437.32 points or 1.14% to end at 38,816.08. The index has touched a new historic high of 38,901.61 during trading hours.

Stocks like PIX Transmissions, Kovai Medical Center, Antony Waste Handling Cell, NITTA Gelatin India, and Welspun Corp were top gainers and advanced by 8% to 18%.

2. Bharat 22 index:

The S&P BSE Bharat 22 Index, which is meant to measure the performance of 22 select companies disinvested by the central government of India, touched a fresh lifetime high of 6,338.20. The index ended at 6,314.18, up by 44.03 points or 0.70%.

Stocks like Engineers India, PFC, Coal India, NBCC, and REC Ltd gained by 1% to 6%.

3. Realty Stocks Star Performers

The Nifty Realty index witnessed a huge rally to touch a new 52-week high of 669.35. The index ended at 666.15, up by 0.61%. Stocks like Swan Energy, Mahindra Lifespace Developers, Godrej Properties, Sobha, and Oberoi Realty zoomed by 1% to 7%.

4. More Advances Than Declines

On BSE, a total of 3,713 stocks traded of which 2,904 stocks advanced. There were fewer declines of at least 688 stocks, and the rest of the 121 stocks were unchanged.

5. Upper Circuits and Lower Circuits

Upper circuits mean that there were several buyers and no sellers. This would be the opposite when it comes to lower circuits.

On BSE, 16 stocks touched their upper circuit limits, while 13 stocks hit lower circuits during a one-hour trade.

Motilal added, "Entering into Samvat 2080, we believe India would continue to shine and expect markets to maintain its outperformance. We believe that over the next couple of quarters, sector rotation will be an important driver along with the overall market uptrend. We expect sectors like BFSI, Discretionary Consumption, Construction and real Estate and High Growth Niche Sectors to drive the overall market uptrend."
