Sensex, Nifty Buoyant On The Last Day Of CY 2021

As per the trend, the markets on the last trading day of CY 2021 have been buoyant, today gaining close to 1 percent on the indices. Broader markets as well as Bank Nifty have been moving higher by over 1 percent.

At the close, Nifty ended the year with gains of 24% on a YTD basis and on a daily basis by 150 point at 17,354, while Sensex jumped to 58,253.

Top gainers on the Nifty has been Hindalco, Titan, UltraTech, Tata Motors and Kotak Mahindra, while laggards have been NTPC, Cipla, Tech Mahindra, Power Grid and Infosys.

Among Nifty sectoral indices, Nifty metal and Nifty PSU Bank have been the most resilient up close to 2 percent and 1.54 percent, respectively. Hindalco has been the top gainer, advancing over 5 percent, while Adani Enterprises hit close to its 52-week high price. In fact all the indices traded in the green shrugging off the Omicron worries due to broad based buying.

Asian indices have been mixed, while European indices open the last trading day on a weakish note.

Meanwhile, rupee has also been trading higher at 74.2050 per US dollar. While crude oil has also made stupendous gains of over 50 percent to current levels of $77 per barrel, making a comeback on economic recovery.
