Sensex, Nifty Hit Record High Levels In Early Morning Trade

Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty traded their all-time high levels in early morning trade on Monday led by fresh foreign fund inflows and buying in IT stocks.
The 30-share BSE Sensex gained 191 points to soar its lifetime intraday high of 66,251.90 in early trade till 10:43 am. Meanwhile, NSE Nifty jumped 60.35 points or 0.31% till 10:45 am to surge its all-time intraday high of 19,624.20.

Nifty Bank gained 32.95 points to 44,852.25 and Nifty Midcap witnessed a rally of 224.8 points to 36,753.75.

Tech Mahindra Share

From the Sensex pack, shares of Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Power Grid, Hindustan Unilever, HCL Technologies, Asian Paints, Infosys, and UltraTech Cement emerged as the leading gainers.

Shares of ONGC, Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel, and SBI Life Insurance witnessed decline of less than 1% in morning trade.

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were buyers on Friday as they bought equities worth Rs 2,636.43 crore, according to exchange data, according to a PTI report.

"In July, FPIs have invested Rs 30,660 crore in India inclusive of bulk deals and investment through primary market.

This reflects the increasing FPI confidence in the Indian economy and markets," said V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services.

Japan market remained shut for a holiday on Monday and US stocks ended on a mixed note on Friday. Meanwhile, global oil benchmark Brent crude fell 0.86% to USD 79.18 a barrel.
