Sensex, Nifty Notch Fresh All Time Highs On Fed's Dovish Tone

In line with the global positive mood, Indian indices have hit fresh highs in trade today, with Nifty hitting levels of 16,800 for the first time, while Sensex notched levels of 56,734.29. With the continuing gains, August gains shall be the best monthly gains for the Indian equities in nine months.

Top Nifty gainers in the firm trade are Hindalco, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel and Bajaj Finance, while laggards have been Nestle and Tech Mahindra.

Among sectoral indices, all of the sectors traded in the green, including metals, auto and realty.

Meanwhile, Asian markets are also trading firm and have risen on US Fed's dovish tone wherein Fed Chair Jerome Powell has not provided for clear asset purchases tapering timeline. Also, oil prices surged as the energy companies' suspended 1.74 million barrels per day of oil production in the US Gulf of Mexico on account of a raging Hurricane.
