Sensex Opens Higher, Nifty Above 15150; Tata Steel Top Gainer

Indices after ending little changed in the previous day's session started on a positive note for yet another day. At 9:16 am, Sensex was up 144 pts or 0.28%, while Nifty gained 0.34% at 15159. Bank Nifty and broader markets also were seen trading with gains in early start.

Among top gainers in early trade today are Tata Steel,HDFC Life, Asian Paints, JSW Steel and BPCL, while laggards included Infosys, Larsen & Toubro, Power Grid, HDFC Bank and Adani Ports.

Sectorally, Nifty metals is the outlier in trade today with gains of over a percent.
Tata Steel scrip rallied after posting stellar Q3 profit of Rs. 3698 crore on the back of increased revenue that was on account of both higher steel prices and volumes.

Shares of telecom players will be in focus today after the entities applications to participate in the Rs 3.92 lakh crore spectrum auction scheduled to start from March 1.

Meanwhile, Asian indices after a muted start are trading mixed, with Hang Seng leading the list of gainers, up 1.7 percent while other indices including Japan's Nikkei and Singapore's Straits Times traded weak.

Brent oil surged to to $61.06 on Tuesday in the seventh straight session of gains, touching 13-month highs.
