September 1st Rule Changes: LPG e-KYC, ITR Deadline, Car Price Hikes And Full List Of Changes

August is coming to an end and with the beginning of a new month a fresh set of rule changes lined up for September 1st which include air travel, cooking gas, income tax, and even car prices. Many of these changes will have a financial impact for all the households so it's worth knowing what comes in from the first of the month.

No More Boarding Pass Stamps For International Travel

From September 1st, passengers who will be travelling abroad from India will no longer need their boarding passes stamped at immigration counters, and can instead complete the immigration process by showing an electronic boarding pass on their phone or a printed copy, with officials no longer stamping it.

LPG e-KYC Deadline End

The last day to finish the E-KYC for LPG connection was extended from August 23rd to August 31st. So this will be effectively the last day for customers who haven't completed it.

This means e-KYC will no longer be available from September 1, and since this Aadhaar biometric confirmation is required to get cylinders at the domestic rate. Indian Oil, HPCL, and BPCL have already been notifying customers to complete the process.

ITR Filing Deadline For Non-Audit Cases

Taxpayers earning business or professional income need to pick the correct ITR form, and those whose accounts don't require an audit for assessment year 2026-27 must file returns by August 31, 2026. ITR-4, or Sugam, applies to those filing under the presumptive tax scheme with business income up to Rs. 50 lakh.

Fuel Prices Revision

Oil marketing companies traditionally revise aviation turbine fuel (ATF), commercial LPG, and CNG-PNG prices on the first of every month. So any major price change may be expected.

Tata Motors And Hyundai Car Prices Rise

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles announced it will increase prices of its cars and SUVs by up to Rs. 25,000 from September 1. The increase covers the company's entire portfolio, including both internal combustion engine and electric vehicles. The exact increase will depend on model and variant.
