On Monday, the US State Department said it will not issue or renew visas for foreign students enrolled in schools in the US for whom the classes have now gone entirely online due to the Covid 19 pandemic. This could be a severe blow to Indian students on non-immigrant F1 and M1 visa.
Setback To Indian Students: US To Not Issue/Renew Visa For Foreign Students
Further in line with the announced move, the US Students and Exchange Visitor Program has made changes to the fall 2020 semester. As per it, the students who are as of now enrolled in online classes should leave the US or can also enroll for courses providing in-person instruction.
Thus to continue living in the US, non-immigrant F1 students need to show that for them minimum classes are being conducted online And if such rules are not adhered to then it will result in immigration consequences.
Importantly, there are over 2 lakh students of Indian-origin in the US.
